2nd Annual "Matt's Run," Tualatin Regatta Run

by dale

Dear Friends & Family,

We would love to have you join us in remembering/honoring our son, Matthew Lembke, at the second annual “Matt’s Run” in Tualatin, OR on (Sat.) Oct. 23. It is part of the Regatta Festivities put on by the Tualatin Chamber of Commerce. It’s a fun day with a lot of meaning behind it. You can register for the race (link below), order tee shirt(s), or even sign up to be a sponsor for the event. All the proceeds go to the “Cpl. Matthew Lembke Scholarship” fund (all charitable contributions are fully tax deductible).

Hope to see you there!

2010 Matthew Lembke College Scholarships

by dale

Just thought I would forward a small article in our local newspaper. (see Photoblog section)

The first scholarships in Matt’s honor were awarded a few weeks ago. These three are really good kids and they are headed for very bright futures, no doubt. It’s kind of neat to be a (very) small part of it.

Honor Guard Wedding

by claudia

Some of you already knew that Dale & I attended a wedding this past weekend in Memphis for a good friend and fellow Marine of Matt's. Matt was supposed to be part of the honor guard for the wedding. It was bittersweet for us to be there, but we are so glad we went and celebrated with Walt and his new bride Katie, and reconnected with many of the guys that had been so close to Matt. Thought I'd share with you the program and a few pictures -

Obama Speech about Cpl. Matthew Lembke

by claudia

Last July, a speech writer for President Obama contacted Carolyn to get permission to use Matt's story in a speech the President would be giving at the Marine Corps barracks in Washington DC. The speech was not televised and we never heard if the story was actually used or not. Yesterday, our casualty affairs officer brought us a DVD with this segment of the speech. Carolyn has posted it on her Facebook page and on Youtube.

Here's the link to Obama's speech:
